What is Vivek ?

Chapter-16

In Samvant 1876, on the forth day of second fortnight of Margshirsh, Shriji Maharaj was seated in the darbar of Shri Dada Khacher at Gadhada. He was dressed in white clothes. The saints and the fllowers from the various places were assembled before him.

Then Shriji Maharaj said, 'The devotee who has Vivek to discriminate between Sat and Asat; realises the evil forces of maya rooted in his heart and tries to eradicate them. However, even if he observes any seemingly unbecoming attributes displayed, be the God's blessed saint or devotee, he overlooks them and takes cognisence of their virtues only. God, who manifests himself in human form, and exhibits such human instincts natural to human beings, he regards as totally divine. All orders given by him or by his saint are therefore obeyed without any hesitation since they are regarded as sacred injunctions by him. When the saint, who is in rapport with God pronounces before him the cardinal truth 'you are seprate form body, Indriyas and Pranas and are the eternal Atma-the knower, and the body and the appendages to are all perishable, he irrevocably accepts this cardinal truth and behaves as Atma but never responds to the frivolous calls of the mind. such a devotee carefully discards the contact of such persons or such sence-objects which are likly to deter him from the path of spiritual ascent. He accepts only eternal truths and rejects untruths. He is therefore said to possess Viveka to discriminate between Sat and Asat.

Thus Ends Vachanamrit : Gadhada First - 16.
